Hi all,

Michael and others contemplating visiting the Mathoura area, the Echuca
area, Terrick Terrick National Park or elsewhere in southern NSW/northern
Victoria, will find lots of info on the web site of the Echuca and District
Branch of BOCA.

There are nine downloadable pdf brochures on local birding spots (including
those areas mentioned above) plus regional bird lists.

There is a section on Terrick Terrick National Park.

There are also links to other Australian birding web sites with an emphasis
on sites specialising in the greater Echuca district. I try to keep the
links list up-to-date and comprehensive, so please email me if your birding
site is not listed or if the link to your site no longer works. For those
of us with birding web sites, I think it may be useful if we link to one
another's birding sites.

The ranger and manager of Terrick Terrick National Park do not like any one
driving or spotlighting on the grasslands looking for Plains-wanderers.
There is little to no chance of observing these birds during the day. It
is, however, sometimes possible to assist with surveys in a restricted area
of the Park with the ranger (Mark) or manager (Russell).

The Friends of T.T. Group has an open weekend on the weekend after the AFL
grand final but I don't know whether or not a Plains-wanderer survey is
scheduled over that weekend. If you attend the weekend, it may be possible
to arrange a search but only over a limited area of the grasslands. The
grasslands were incorporated in to the park to protect not only
Plains-wanderer but Dunnarts, other small animals and endangered plants:
their protection is paramount.

Commercial Plains-wanderer weekends on the Hay Plain are advertised in
birding magazines.

I've replied to Michael's request about this area in a separate email.
