Hi all

I had a good 2 hours this morning at Prospect Reservoir (approx. 40km west
of Sydney CBD near Blacktown) with a bird list of 64 species during that
time.

The Swift Parrots were heard again but unfortunately not in sight again near
George Maunder Lookout. Flowering Mugga Ironbarks were attracting lots of
honeyeaters especially White-plumed and New Holland Honeyeaters and smaller
numbers of White-naped, Fuscous and Scarlet Honeyeaters; Red and Little
Wattlebirds and there were hundreds of Yellow-faced Honeyeaters passing
through but not really stopping for a feed. There were also 5 Bar-shouldered
and 3 Peaceful Doves, Fan-tailed Cuckoo, several Eastern Yellow Robins
(there is a good population of these birds at Prospect), Spotted and
Striated Pardalotes, Double-barred Finches and at least 30 Dusky
Woodswallows around the lookout.

On the reservoir was 120 Great Crested Grebes, 12 Hardhead, 4 000 Coots and
400 Silver Gulls etc.

Raptors seen include both Grey and Brown Goshawks, the usual adult pair of
White-bellied Sea-eagles and 3 Whistling Kites.

Always a great place to visit. Reservoir gates open at 10 am, which in
winter, is the best time for birding there, especially for birds of prey.
