In Western Australia, it is the Department of Food and Agriculture who is 
responsible for the control of exotic species, and not the Department of 
Environment and Conservation (formerly CALM).  They do a very good job, 
given their resources.  So maybe in Queensland, you need to contact someone 
similar.
