Yes, and if carried on the inside of a backpack it can also act as padding for your back. Some backpacks have a removable piece of closed cell foam in a pocket against the back which can be taken out and used for sitting on.

Better than a plastic bag & lighter & easier to carry than a shooting stick is a square of closed cell foam cut from a sleeping mat.
It is popular among those that bushwalk in cool wet climes.
