Re the discussion on understanding the meanings of the colour references used when describing bird
plumages:
This has been brought up before on this forum (naturally; there is nothing new in this universe). Have a look at this: http://bioacoustics.cse.unsw.edu.au/birding-aus/1997-02/msg00068.html Probably won't satisfy everyone. In that case: Google "naturalist's color guide". (Aussies and other English language pedants should note the spelling.)
