Plans are afoot to replace the existing sewerage ponds at Awonga
Point with a new plant, cleaner and greener releasing less gunk into
the ocean. This probably means the loss of the existing ponds.
The Spotted Whistling-Ducks will be hard to find up here without the
sewerage ponds. So if you need to see them do so this year.
