Hi there Phil,
Only this morning we had a Yellow Rumped Thornbill visit our birdbath
and it actually had a drink. This is not common with this species here
but I have seen it several times before. Running a sprinkler (pre water
restrictions) is another matter - they come from all directions to bathe
- with water splashing in all directions. During these bathing sessions
I've never seen them drinking but they may do so.
Another species we have here occasionally is the Chestnut Rumped
Thornbill. This is an occasional visitor to our garden and although it
has come close to the birdbath on many occasions I've only ever seen it
drink once.
The Yellow Thornbill, although present on occasions, I have never seen
drinking.
