For the uninitiated (ie me), what's the procedure for an unusual sighting?

I saw a Topknot Pigeon in Blaxland recently; Carol Proberts suggested
this was a new record for the LGA and the NPWS wildlife atlas supports
this. There are no records for this species in the BMCC LGA. So, where
do I (and others) proceed from here?

Thanks for your help.

Evan
