G'day Birders, the red bloodwoods (Corymbia gummifera) have just stated
flowering the lower blue mountains and as always are attracting a lot of birds.
The local rainbow lorrikeet numbers seem to have increased but have also been
joined by musk lorrikeets, an unusual visitor for the lower mountains. I saw
two groups feeding in blossom this moring whilst walking the kids to school,
probalby about 8 - 10 birds all up.

The scarlet honeyeaters have also become much more vocal in the last week.

And the numbers of flying foxes seem to be on the increase, they also like the
bloodwood flowers.

Cheers
Graham Turner
