My experience of birding in Malaysia is not extensive. However I offe rthe following comments - - I spent several weeks with you and others targeting species - particularly rainforest species - I found many of the rainforest species very difficult to find (surprisigly so). On reflection trhis is obviously that even in their prime habitat they are found in quyite small numbers. - I was astonished in my travels through central Malaysia to observe the exdtent of rainforest clearing for palm oil plantation. The loss of habitat is obviously immense.
Other than the above I can not offer any objective, measurable data.
