Re: Melbourne quail

Further to Bill's observation of a quail near central Melbourne.

I observed (and in fact captured) a Painted Button-quail in the carpark at 
work some years ago.  The animal was very low in body weight and 
noticeably thin.

Many quail species make movements that would bring them into urban 
localities on occasion.  This observation was atlassed and the bird taken 
to suitable nearby habitat.

A quick check of Atlas of Victorian Wildlife data shows Melbourne to be 
completely surrounded by Stubble Quail observations, so Bill, your 
sighting is well worth atlassing.
