I was about to report that i had seen 4 or 5 WTNT over Mosman
yesterday afternoon (29/1/07) and report that i could clearly see the
white rump. I thought it a bit odd at the time that i couldn't see
the white throat since they were quite low and light was great - even
if i was driving through downtown Mosman towards Bradleys Head!
I have just checked my field guide though and they must have been
Fork-tailed Swifts??
That would explain why there was no white throat and WTNT have a
white vent/undertail not white rump.
Didn't see any forking of the tails though.
Does this sound right?
I have never seen Fork-tails before and ironically was hoping that i
would see some amongst this small flock of WTNT!!
Clear blue sky with only the odd cloud. Moderate NE winds.
