A Comfortable New Year

Greetings Russ and all
I finally snared the Scarlet Honeyeater, a bird I thought was a hoax, at 10:45 a.m. on 1 Jan. Nursing a rather typical new years hangover, I thought to walk it off on a pleasant little track off the campground at Buchan (East Gippsland, Victoria). Bagged a small group of them. Luckily they only stayed around for a minute or so, as looking up was making me dizzy. The usual celebratory imbibations that tend to follow a tick were a little more subdued than normal on this occasion. Only three more to go for 400 in Victoria!
Cheers
Geoff

Happy New Year to everyone (and early wishes to those in SA, WA, QLD

All the best for the year, and for your yearlists. Who has the first
bird for the year, and the first new tick? Will it be John Harris up
in the Mallee, or has Dools another trick up his sleeve?

Don't forget the Garden Bird Survey - 7 - 8 am I think. Uggh -
that's not many hours away ....
