Hi Russell. I could not recall how to report unusual bird sightings via Birding-Aus, so hope you will find this of interest.

Today, 31/12/2006, my wife and I found a dead male (from the brightness of its plumage) rose-crowned fruit-dove in our garden at Bracken Ridge, 4017, a northern suburb of Brisbane. We have never seen one in our garden in 24 years. There is no suitable habitat in the area, other than a single tall lilly-pilly nearby. Apart from missing a few breast feathers, this beautiful creature appears intact, certainly not torn apart by a cat or raptor.

Thanks, Ken & Margaret Pettit
