Anyone headed into the bush this weekend needs to be mindful of the
weather and fires situation. I'm not sure if you've arrived here
yet, Drew, but we've had bad bushfires in the NE of Victoria for the
last week and they look set to worsen tomorrow with temperatures
forecast to top 40 degrees in some places (37 in melbourne). 40 deg C
is 104 Fahrenheit. There have been fires in the west and northwest
as well, and anything is possible in these temperatures once the
north wind gets going.
All the national parks and most state forests in the NE of the state
are closed due to fires, as are many places in Gippsland.
You can check fire updates at
(for public land)
http://www.cfa.vic.gov.au/ for private land and urban areas.
Cheers, and I hope everyone has a safe weekend.
