Hi Birders,
During the past week Central Coast birders have seen some great birds and the the rains of the past few days should continue to keep things hopping along.

On 25/11/06 Ben Pointer and others saw two seperate pairs of White-throated Nightjars on eggs on dry ridges in the Upper Mangrove Creek area while Peter Settle saw a pair of Square-tailed Kites over a timbered ridge at Wyoming. This is the first time that a pair of birds have been seen together on the Central Coast. The first record for a SQTK on the Central Coast was only in 2002 but since then there have been regular sightings at Wyoming, Mardi and Palmgrove. A Bush Stone-curlew with chick was seen at Davistown. There was an Opsrey at Budgewoi lake (Noel Lonergan) & White-throated Needletails at Chittaway Point (John & Carole Carpenter) and Norah Head (Robyn & Dick Price).

On 26/11 a Grey Goshawk at Mangrove Mountain (M.Pointer).

On 28/11, 1 Marsh Sandpiper with 435+ Sharp-tailed Sandpipers, 4 Curlew Sandpipers & 121 Red-necked Stints, 1152 Black Swan, 44 Little Tern & 45 Whiskered Tern on the Budgewoi Lake Sandmass.

At North Entrance there were 8 Greenshanks with a nesting pair of Little Terns & 45 non-breeding plumage Little Terns

At Tuggerah STW 9 Hoary-headed Grebes (Kaye & Margaret Pointer)

On 30/11/06 Still 6 Pinkears and 4 Shovelers at Tuggerah STW, a pair of Grey Teal with 3 ducklings (unusual breeding record) and a Little Eagle.

On 1/12/06 there was 1 White-winged Black Tern with 16 Whiskered Terns at Chittaway Point along with 2 Red Knots, 4 Curlew Sandpipers and many Sharp-tailed Sandpipers.

On 2/12/06 during the regular outing of the Birding NSW Central Coast Group 2 Great Knots along with 2 Greenshanks, and a Buff-banded Rail at Picnic Point.

On 4/12, nesting Striated Herons at Long Jetty
