To summarise this thread: We have learnt that gliding and hawking for flying insects is a Starling behaviour in north-west Europe, but only seen in mid-summer when flying insects swarm. Several people, including several people in the Canberra area, have reported that they are noticing the behavour increasingly, which was my original observation. I wonder if this might be drought-related (ground feeders switching to an alternative and more rewarding strategy)? -- John Leonard Canberra Australia www.jleonard.net =============================== www.birding-aus.org birding-aus.blogspot.comTo unsubscribe from this mailing list, send the message: unsubscribe (in the body of the message, with no Subject line) to: =============================== |
