I generally carry a small shoulder pouch which is large enough to keep
my notes and my copy of Pizzey and Knight.

Proving I have no shame, I often consult the field guide, even in the
full view of other birders!

My favourite is Michael Morcombe's compact guide.  It's much more up to
date
than Slater - the other pocket sized guide.

I have the larger field guides available at home for reference too.
