The ponds that Neville mentioned did get birds on them in the right
conditions - I used to work for a company that did work for AusTop and when
we did work at the Parkes site and that included looking at the ponds I
would always have a scout around. I recall the finance bloke I worked with
describing "these funny looking ducks with big bills and stripy bodies" to
me once.

The ponds were aerobic and anaerobic ponds to treat the dirty water coming
out of the wool scour - I could possibly dig out a few lists from my pre
birding-aus time, but as the wool processing plant has been closed for a
while, have probably degraded a bit (with no new water coming in)
