Michael Norris patiently reminded me that archive searching wasn't
working and I may have fixed this. The search engine is still flaky
so I've also added an alternative to search via google.
The archive is at: http://bioacoustics.cse.unsw.edu.au/birding-aus/

If the archive and its dodgy interface to 50000+ old birding-aus messages
is useful to you - great. If there is a problem let me know, but don't
expect it fixed in a hurry.

An exception is I try to remove defamatory or otherwise problematic
messages as soon as I'm told of them - and in such cases contact Russell
if you can't get hold of me.

If you who aren't a power user of Google, FYI you can use Google to
search any site by using the site: prefix. For example, to find out
to what the federal department of the environment has about about OBPs,
you can use this google query:

"orange-bellied parrot" site:deh.gov.au

Due to my fiddling with the archive google searches may return some
dud links. That should be fixed as google re-indexes.

[ Saw a Sacred Kingfisher hurtle through yesterday - it didn't seem to
think inner-west Sydney had much to offer. Two Channel-Billed Cuckoo
circling together silently above Callan Park last Wednesday. As in past
seasons I've seen 3 flying together there a few times, I don't think
male+female can be assumed. ]
