It can be done in a day from Adelaide, Murray Bridge or more easily from
Victor Harbour. Take your car across on the 6.00 a.m. ferry from Cape Jervis
to Penneshaw at the east end of the island and return on the 7.30 pm ferry.
It's a 2 hour drive to Admirals Arch in the Flinders Chase NP at the western
end of the island and in the right wind conditions, the birds assemble on a
rock platform where they can be viewed from a NZ fur seal observation
walkway . Interstate visitors doing it in a weekend would fly into Adelaide
on a Friday evening and return on the Sunday. We drove from Melbourne and
stayed one night on the island. At that site there were also ~2,000 Crested
& ~300 White-fronted Terns as well as other seabirds offshore.
