Here in Ivanhoe (Melbourne) close to Darebin Creek and about 500 metres from the Yarra - the first Fantail Cuckoo of the season, heard and seen, giving its descending trill in the top of a leafless Elm-tree in a neighbour's garden. Strongly rufous-coloured on the breast, yellow eye-ring also noticeable. It called for about 20 minutes.
