Hi Grant,

A follow up on the banded Osprey. The bird is one of two that I have banded as nestlings in the Clarence Valley, north coast New South Wales that Ken has observed in the Macleay Valley, near Kempsey recently. One of these, banded at the Clarence River, Mororo in October 2005, has been seen in the Belmore River area and the second, banded near Maclean in September 2003, has been present at a nest near the South West Rocks Road. Both of these birds have three powder coated colour bands, one on the right leg and two on the left. A third colour banded Osprey was recently observed at Lake Tabourie, south coast New South Wales 714 km to the south. I banded it in November 2001 at the same nest near Maclean as the bird on the nest near the South West Rocks Road. This bird was seen, and photographed, a couple of years earlier at Narrabeen Lake. A number of other colour banded Ospreys have remained within the Clarence Valley with a few of them, now adults, breeding at local nests.

Regards

Greg Clancy
