Laurie,
Whne I am up that way with work, I usually stay in Tannum Sands, which
is about 20 km south of Gladstone. I often walk in the parkland and
mangroves at the mouth of the Boyne River. Plenty of interesting
birds for a Victorian, although nothing too exotic.
I'd be interested in any other spots you turn up.
