Hi Dave,

While acknowledging that dogs (especially young ones) can be a problem with
birds, I think that children are much worse. I have just returned from the
park with my dog, there was a flock of Straw-necked Ibis there. The dog
ignored them and they ignored the dog, however a pair of feral children were
rushing in to the flock making them leave their feeding area in dismay while
the children's parents just stood there laughing at the fun they were
having.

Funnily enough, I was recently talking to a council employee working on a
tree planting project on the river bank, and he told me that although they
never get any dog damage, 150 saplings were pulled from the ground by
children beside a picnic area over a recent weekend. He was of the opinion
that the dog-catcher should be replaced with a child-catcher :-)
