Yes of course that (Syd's comment) is correct, though not always so clear as to 
where to draw the dividing line. Syd's suggestion really only works when 
applied retrospectively. Actually it doesn't matter much. Unless you are lying 
in a tent, not knowing what the time is and wondering is it nearly dawn or only 
about 2.00 am. I was thinking about Willie Wagtails in particular, that call 
through the night and contribute to the dawn chorus. What is interesting is how 
the same birds respond to a total solar eclipse.
