Hi Birders,

I am hoping that some of the birders from Victoria may be able to help me with an unusual birdcall.

My son, who lives in Bendigo, phoned me on Saturday to ask about a bird that was calling in a tree near his house. This in itself is surprising as he is not usually very interested in birds. But he said the call was familiar to him from time he spent in the Gold Coast hinterland and he did not expect to hear it in Bendigo. The call  was similar to that of the Eastern Whipbird with a couple of extra notes at the end . He was not able to see the bird.

Do Whipbirds occur so far inland in Victoria ?  If not, does anyone have any ideas on what else it may have been ?

Any help would be appreciated.
