Hi all,

I've been out birding with clients nearly every day since the Twitchathon (life's tough isn't it!) and returned home to a mailbox full of sponsorship cheques. Wonderful!

Anyway, just wanted to report a female Freckled Duck at Lake Wallace (Wallerawang, near Lithgow, NSW) on Friday 4/11/05. Seen from the car from less than 10 metres this is the closest look I've ever had of one of these lovely birds.

Also, 3 Blue-billed Ducks still present at Lithgow sewage works on the same day, as well as the usual Shovelers and Pink-ears.

Regent Honeyeaters still present at Coco Creek in the Capertee Valley and Painted Honeyeater still on my land. Young cuckoos are around with a very young Horsfield's (looking very much like a Black-eared) being fed by Superb Fairy-wrens and a juvenile Pallid also in the Capertee Valley.

Brown Songlarks are displaying at the Hawkesbury turf farms and in the Capertee.

At least 2 White-throated Needletails high over Evans Lookout in the Blue Mountains at around 6pm on 2/11/05.

Cheers

Carol
