Hello Mike,

It appears to be a Collared Sparrowhawk , In my experience the tail conformation is not always conclusively squared , specially when the bird is seen perched , Jizz is typical of a perched CS ,

I took this photo this morning, but am still unsure what this raptor is. It flew down over my shoulder as I was taking some pictures and flew very low (under 2 metres) across the paddock and landed on this gate. I could not get any closer and it exited behind the hedge.
