G'day All

I dont mean to stir the possum, just come back inside from doing a quick trip through some paperbark forest and monsoon vine forest at the back of my house.  Other than seeing Green-backed Gerygone, Yellow White-eye, Emerald Dove, White-winged Triller and Peaceful and Bar-shouldered Doves was a male Leaden Flycatcher with a black to very dark grey hood (head, breast and neck) that deadset looked and sounded exactly the same as the so called "Hooded Monarch" seen at Howard Springs NT in May and June.

Although I've never seen a Hooded Monarch at all, but having seen the Howard Springs bird on two occasions and even took some basic photos of it, having two birds, exactly the same (behaviour, calls, plumage even in the same type of habitat - edge of monsoon vine forest), but 600k's apart, would tend to lend even more weight to the Howard Springs monarch was being a leaden flycatcher (Sorry Roger who first sighted it).

Has anyone got experiences with male Leadens with dark heads in other parts of Australia that look like a cross between a Satin and Leaden F.C? Could this be a regional variation or just a couple of male Leadens with really new head feathers?

Cheers
Marc
