AustraliaAndrew,The only corvid in eastern Sydney is an Australian Raven, birds with brown irises are immatures, so that your bird's gular pouch would not have developed. Little Ravens are occasional visitors in small flocks to the far west of the Sydney Region. Torresion Crows only extend as far south as Newcastle on the NSW coast at this stage but they are pushing south! Your copy of Simpson & Day is correct in the distribution maps for the corvids around Sydney Alan Morris Records Officer, Birding NSW |
