Hi birders,

Sometimes one hears about a project which really fuels the imagination and interest. Anyone like me who is interested in birdsong and music will find the work of Hollis Taylor fascinating. Hollis is an accomplished violinist who is embarking on doctoral studies on the song of the Pied Butcherbird. I won't try and describe the project here but you can read more about it on her website http://www.hollistaylor.com.

Hollis has been in contact with me and as a result she will be making recordings of birds in the Capertee Valley (among other places). If anyone has Pied Butcherbird recordings from anywhere in Australia that they would like to make available to Hollis, she would be most grateful. Please contact her directly at: Also, if anyone knows of any good PBs that would be relatively easy for her to record, I'm sure she would also love to hear from you. She's based in the Blue Mountains west of Sydney.

Cheers,

Carol
