To John,

The Kalkadoon Grasswren is one of the easiest Grasswrens of all . No need for playback. Try the spot 2.3km past the Mica Ck causeway on the road heading south to Boulia from the Isa. On the right hand side you'll pass another creekline where there is a pull-off to the right along a large gully. They are easy to hear and find in about 100m up the track.

It would be well worth your while to try for the Carpentarian while your'e up that way. I had success at the 'Lady Loretta Project' in March, with two birds calling (faintly) and zitting between low Acacia shrubs. Early morning mind you, missed twice before in the afternoon.
