Tawny Frog-mouths

Birders
 Last evening at late dusk, Tawny frog-mouths visited the garden. One on the house aerial & one on the neighbours aerial.  They "oom"ed to each other for some minutes, then ours flew over to join the other. Would they be a pair or just friends keeping in touch?
