Also visited Tweed Heads Historic Site and Ukerabagh Nature Reserve in South Tweed Heads to get my annual record of Collared Kingfisher (calling well with at least 6 individuals seen in 15 minutes). Didn't hang around too long as the mosquioes were particularly fierce.

I am certain that one day I will turn up Mangrove Honeyeaters there, but so far have had no luck. Does anyone know of any sites other than near Yamba where this species can be found in NSW? I suspect there are records at Brunswick Heads and I wouldn't be surprised if they also occur at Cobaki Broadwater (where Shining Flycatchers have been seen in the past). However, I don't know how to access the latter spot so have never done any bird-watching there. I have seen Mangrove Honeyeaters once before (east of Maryborough) but it was over 20 years ago so am keen to track them down. Otherwise I will have to battle the crowds in Yamba (or head further north into banana bender territory and find them there).

Have a good Christmas all.
Cheers,
Peter
