from the occupants of the verandah where the bird-lice/mites are is
as follows:
A procedure began very successfully of surface spraying the
area; also, a garden insect-spray was used on the pot-plants where
the parent birds & nestlings had been; and personal insect repellant
was sprayed on the skin of the humans!
This worked a treat for some time. However, as these
precautions have worn off - with everyone expecting the little mites
to have gone wherever little mites go, or to have died off - it's now
clear, apparently, that whenever a human sits in the area they will
become re-infested.
It would seem that the spraying procedure needs to go on for
some further time. More advanced action is still in the offing.
