G'day folks - bird-hiders,

Funnily enough i was at a meeting today in Barham that was all about this
(broader) project. It's called the Triavian Corridor, not a habitat
connection project as you might expect, rather one that is connecting three
shires - Balranald, Wakool and Murray - through tourism. This huge project
is in it's infancy and the three bird hides that have been discussed on
birding-aus form part of it/are being incorporated into it. The Balranald
one is going to be at the Balranald Common, a place i am not familiar with.
The materials arrived today - all 69 tonnes of them! - and construction is
imminent. We are still developing 'bird routes' linking these three sites,
deciding which other birding sites will be incorporated, selecting focal
species, website, brochure etc. etc. We'll certainly keep birding-aus
posted. Great to see this 'black hole' being filled in terms of
opportunities for birders without local knowledge. Hope this info helps.
Cheers, Matt Herring.
