I'm back on this list after a long break.

Can anyone help me with a quick way to identify waders?

My present method needs improvement:

If it's big then it's a sharp-tailed sandpiper
If it's small then it's a red-necked stint
If it's tall and thin then it's either a greenshank or curlew-sandpiper
If it doesn't look like a wader then it's a plover or dotterel

I'm off to Werribee WTP tomorrow & Sunday.
