Birding-aussies..
The advent of Koels, CBCs etc has me wondering how they get to Sydney and environs with hardly a report from further up the East Coast.

I live in Warwick and a few Koels keep the town awake most nights during summer, but there have been none to hear so far.
My first Dollarbirds for the season were here on Sun 3/10, but a Channell Billed Cuckoo was heard just after dark on Sun 19/9.
CBCs dont seem to stay here..I only see 1 or 2 per season as they pass through.

How long does it take for a Koel to fly down the East Coast?
Do they only start calling when they get to their destination?
Do Koels and CBCs return to the same sights year after year, and if so, are they coming back to the spot where they were raised?

If I dont ask.....I'll never know,

Chris
