Hi Birders,

This is my first report, so please be kind.

I've heard Channel-billed Cuckoos once in the past couple of days, but today, while working in the back yard, I noticed a commotion in the large Gums in the park behind my house, and at the centre of the commotion were a pair of Channel-bills, being mobbed by the local Magpies and Noisy Miners, the latter two species being very vocal indeed, but the Cuckoos were silent.
This went on for about five minutes, until finally the Cuckoos were driven away, flying over my yard, not uttering a single sound.
They are certainly magnificent in flight at low altitude.

Cheers,

Andrew Hall.
