Boating supply warehouses, such as Whitworths and Bias in Sydney,
have a good selection of GPS units at discount prices in their mail-order
Just which model to select is another matter. Mine is a Garmin,
bought after my Magellan gave up the ghost, and it has never missed a beat.
An external ariel with a magnetic disc that sticks to the roof of the
car,and cigarette-lighter charging plug, lets you have it on all the time
while driving, with instant readout of your position. Converts back to
handheld in about thirty seconds.
