Hello birdlovers... Lorne here...
Last Sunday I was at Magic Point, Maroubra, Sydney, and was unhappy to
see a new sign on the heathland path leading to Magic Point saying that
trespassing was prohibited, and there was a $46 000+ fine and 7 year
jail term (!!!!!) for those who did walk on the Commonwealth Land there.
Bloody ridiculous. I don't understand the reasoning behind this.
Magic Point is one of Sydney's finest birding spots, and it would be a
travesty if some ignorant birdo was arrested and fined for trespassing.
Or arrested and jailed!!! Christ. I can see it now, me sharing a jail
cell in Long Bay with some bloke called Wayne who's in for several armed
hold ups, rape, assault, burning bibles, working for Al-Qaeda,
conspiring with the Taliban etc. And I'm in there for looking at some
Southern Emu-wrens on Commonwealth land!
Can anyone shed any light on why trespassing is an issue at Magic
Point?
Laterz,
LGJ
