Folks

For those not aware, the second Regent Honeyeater/Swift Parrot national Search Days are scheduled for this coming weekend (although we are more than happy for people to contribute the week before and after the designated weekend).  This is a perfect excuse to get out there, do some birding and, hopefully, turn up some endangered species.

I managed to locate two groups of Regent Honeyeaters in the Wollar - Bylong area while travelling from Mudgee to the Central Coast (and return) on Sunday and yesterday so it can be done!

If you are interested, and able, to get to the Rylstone - Bylong - Wollar area over the next week or so please let me know as this area has some fairly extensive, albeit patchy, flowering of White Box at the moment.  As a result there are some interesting concentrations of honeyeaters (again patchy) and I'm sure many more Regent Honeyeaters waiting to be discovered!!  As well as honeyeaters many of the listed (on the threatened species list) woodland birds were easy to find.  Diamond Firetails and Turquoise Parrots were particularly easy to find.

If you are not able to help search this interesting country you can still participate by filling in survey forms for anywhere you may be within the general range of the Regent Honeyeater and Swift Parrot over the next 10 days or so, regardless of whether you see the target species or not.

Survey forms are available from myself or Debbie Saunders

Happy hunting
