Had a quick visit
to the W.T.P. today after our brief sojourn to Broome and Kununurra. The
delight of the day was the group of 15 Godwits on the Borrow Pit very close to
where we park the car. There was a huge number of birds at the
outlet near the mouth of Little River; Avocet, Silver and Pacific gulls, Grey
and Chestnut teal, Pacific Black, Swans, Pelican, Black-winged Stilts all
gathered together.
Broome was great
and I was able to add the Yellow Chat to my 'lifer' list and have now seen all
the Chats.
Parry's Lagoon
near Wyndham was a amazing, Plumed and Wandering Whistling Duck, Magpie
Geese, Brolga, egrets and more. On the Parry Lagoon Bird list was a
Weero. From descriptions I assumed to is a Cockatiel, am I
correct?
On a brief visit
to El Questro we were told that both Whistling Kites and Black Kites may carry
smouldering sticks which then spread wild fires so they are able to flush
out prey. Could this be so?
