Barbara Salter found a Barking Owl on 15/8/1957 during a World Bird Day survey
in Black Rock and Sandringham (SE Melbourne).

(She also recorded 130 species in or over her garden at no 45 Tulip St,
opposite Sandringham Golf Links and near the current George Street Reserve -
between 1954 and 1968 - see her book on Australian Native Gardens and Birds.
This includes 11 more species I have never seen in Bayside and some, like
Western Gerygone, that I have never seen at all).
