Hello all,

I am wondering if anyone can help.

A mate of mine was recently in Shanghai and saw what he thought were a pair of Greenfinches near his balcony.

What he sent me is copied below:

" I just looked out of the kitchen window and saw what I thought were a pair of Greenfinches, olive green in colour a finches beak but had a white beard and a white crest, they were acting as a pair but the markings were the same and only a small difference in size between them.

It’s not one I’m familiar with.  Any idea’s?"

I sent him a photo of a greenfinch with white markings on throat and head, but he insists that it was not just a white patch on the head, it was definitely a "crest".

Can anyone help ??

Regards

Ray
