Ensure whatever you get, can check if your PC has any open ports.

MS XP comes with an inbuilt Firewall, but the experts claim the others
are better

To find if it is already switched on
Left Click Start > Programs > Accessories > Communications > Network
Connections > The Icon for your Provider
Right Click that Icon > Properties > Security (tab) >Advanced .. and
see if there is a tick for "Protect my computer etc"
