G'day Dan,

The National Photographic Index of Australian Wildlife publication - The Robins & Flycatchers of Australia by Walter E Boles - in its species description of the Eastern Whipbird (Psophodes olivaceus) commencing on page 403, has an article published by the observer Edwin Ashley, who studied the bird in Southern Queensland in 1903 and was able to confirm that it was a dual call by both male and female.

A second article also appears which was written in 1908 by L. G. Chandler who conducted a study just north of Melbourne in which he was able to confirm that the male Eastern Whipbird is capable, under certain conditions, of giving both calls.

Hope this helps

Cheers

Phil Joy.
