David's right - not the response that I was wanting...
The observation was at Wee Jasper, about 1 hr (drive) west of Canberra.
Have not seen or heard any gliders and am not expecting flying foxes (have
seen some microbats and heard mastiff bats).
What this means is I am left baffled as to what the answer to the Barking
Owl 'screaming woman' call was. The only other nightbirds to call that
night were White-throated Nightjar (at around the same time) and
Owlet-nightjar very early in the night (the answer was quite dissimilar to
an Owlet-nightjar's normal call).
One to stick in the unsolved box?
Paul
