Re: White-winged Choughs south of Hamilton (Vic)

The longest recorded movement of a banded White-winged Chough (see the Aust Bird Study Association website) is 14 kilometres.

The sort of distances Steve is talking about are, therefore, not out of the question.  However, it begs the question of how, or why, a group of Choughs would move that far.  It is possible that this is an outlying group resulting from local extinctions of surrounding groups.

Lots of questions, not many answers.
